No bar at the gym -- deadlift substitute?

Hi all! We've got 25lb plates -- but no bar -- in the company gym, and I'm wondering the sort of substitutions I can make to try to simulate some of the Big 5. I'm used to loading a backpack with plates, grabbing some dumbells (we've got up to 50lbs) and going from there.

Would a loaded backpack, straight-backed raise from bent over horizontal while gripping dumbells in each hand be a reasonable deadlift simulation? Can you recommend one, in this case?

We've also got a cable machine that loads up 140lbs per sidr, but I can't see that factoring in to this.
