I eat well and I feel well. How do I know I won't feel well if I don't eat well?

To give some background, I'm 24 years old and when I was 20 I decided to go vegan. I have always been skinny all my life and not much of a shitty food eater. So I never really felt bad for eating bad. But now that I eat very clean, and have been eating clean for over three years, I can't tell if I feel the way I do because of what/how I eat or anything else.

I mean I'm sure I would, but how do I know I feel better than the average who simply doesn't care what/how they eat? Not talking about animal products strictly, bet just shitty foods in general. Please excuse shitty writing skills or anything like that. I'll be happy to clear things up if anything unclear. Answer questions, more specifics/details, etc. Thanks!

edit: Okay, I've got it. My question is I don't know not feeling well. I also make an effort to stay in shape. So maybe what I'm getting at is that I haven't (or don't remember) not feeling well/feeling shitty so I how am I to be convinced that it is a result of my clean eating and exercise habits? Yes, that is my question and thought. Thanks in advance!
